As a resort that takes its eco credentials seriously, we thought long and hard about placing hot tubs at the lodges. Conscious of their popularity with guests but equally aware of any impact on the natural environment. The Whitekirk Hill estate occupies 160 acres of the most magical East Lothian countryside. Stunning panoramic views out to sea and equally beautiful views across the Lammermuir Hills. With an abundance of wildlife, from hares and badgers, foxes and deer, hawks and owls, we are very aware of our obligation and responsibility to look after all the visitors to Whitekirk Hill.
Whilst wood burners are charming, smell great, and have an amazing aesthetic, the big question was – are they eco-friendly?
The short answer is – yes, but with the caveat that responsible and sustainable burning practices had to be adopted. Having invested time sourcing a fuel that offered high energy efficiency and low carbon emissions we chose to use compressed recycled oak logs. A product that ticked all our boxes.
We now have 3 lodges that enjoy the luxury and fun that comes with sitting in a hot tub, sipping Prosecco and watching the sun set.
If you are looking for a romantic hot tub stay, then our luxury studio lodges fit the bill. If you want to make a bigger splash then our Irvine lodge which sleeps 6, has a much larger tub, perfect for friends or family getting together.
Given the popularity of the ones we’ve already installed…. more are to come.
